Hello to Oxbow Cottagers,
Who would have thought a year ago, that we would be dealing with a world-wide pandemic?! Everyone has been affected in some way by this and in dealing with the requested restrictions. Soon your lake executive will have more details for you on this upcoming summer. Please check the Lake of Bays Township website for updates on how things are going in cottage country. Meanwhile, a couple of special notes: SPECIAL NOTE: While marinas remain closed and Ontario’s Public Health encourages people to remain at their primary residence due to Covid-19, some will want to put their boats in the water. At this time, please be aware:
And from the Singleton cottage: I had to briefly visit Barb's cottage for one hour today and was impressed by the damage done to several trees. The bark was chewed off anywhere from ground level up to 15 feet above ground. Expect this damage is from porcupines in the area. I haven't seen this type of damage for 20-25 years. I'd recommend that when cottagers are able to move back in they should keep their dogs on a leash. If their dogs run free at night people should know the phone number and address for emergency vet services. I expect a vet bill in these situations could easily be $500. I hope this information can be shared with others. It would be sad for families to have to go through the distress of dealing with a hurt pet. Thanks Paul Thank you to Paul for this info and to Angie and Peter Heydon for the marker update. Take care everyone. Stay well, stay safe and STAY HOME!!
