Fall is definitely in the air! The leaves are changing and the air is cooler.
This past Tuesday, there was a fire on the top of the cliffs on the east side of Oxbow. Thanks to Angie and Peter Heydon, they spotted it on a morning paddle and called it in. The response of our emergency crews was impressive! Even though we no longer have Station 50, the responding fire crews, Angie reported, appeared within 40 minutes of placing the 911 call, with 8 fire fighters and 2 boats (it was a water access only call!) on scene. It was determined to be a camp fire that had not been fully extinguished before the group/person left. There was a short article noting this: https://muskoka411.com/start/grass-fire-in-lake-of-bays-caused-by-camp-fire-not-extinguished/ Please be diligent in attending to any fire that you have, especially making sure it is OUT! Dues are almost all collected now – thank you! If you haven’t received an updated listing of Oxbow Lake Cottagers, your dues haven’t been received. If you aren’t sure whether they have been paid, please check with Darlene Conlon. For details on paying, please see the lake website. Enjoy these last days of summer and our beautiful Muskoka fall!
