This year’s Regatta was attended by over 125 cottagers and their families! Keeping with tradition, the events started with the canoe & kayak race (overall first place to Paul & Tim from the Arnold cottage) and wound up with the Mainland versus Peninsula tug-of-war (in the spirit of good sportsmanship & Oxbow Lake fellowship, we won’t post those results!). In between there were lots of events for the kids (relays and pedal boat races) and for all ages (Frisbee net, 3-legged race and bean-bag toss). After a multi-year stay at the Gordon cottage, the coveted Sinclair Cup moved over to the Keefe-Manuel cottage as Matt & Jacob outdid their bean-bag competitors. The grand finale was the awards ceremony, where many, many families added to their collections of the highly-prized birch medallions and the kids received candy awards. As always, the Regatta took place on the Sunday of Civic Holiday weekend. Special thanks to the Oxbow Lakeside Community Club for allowing this to be held on their waterfront – an excellent location with lots of space for all the activities. Regatta coordinators, Peter and Angie Heydon, also thank the other volunteers who make this Regatta special – Bruce Cameron for running the canoe & kayak race, the McRobbie family for the tug-of-war, the Wylie family for continuing to produce the priceless medallions, and Lynda Arnold for publicizing the event. We hope for a good turnout again next year!
